Below are some benefits of a metal roofing system:

Metal Roofing Benefits

The first benefit of metal roofing is its enhanced performance caused by recent innovations in metal roofing paint systems and coating technology. The vast majority of today’s metal roofs use a galvalume coated steel substrate which virtually eliminates worries about rust and corrosion. Galvalume steel carries a limited warranty against rust and corrosion. And just as important, paint systems now have outstanding resistance to fading, chalking, and cracking under the most stringent conditions. Most metal has a 40 year paint warranty as standard, and lifetime warranties are also available on some metal. These paint systems use cutting edge technology and inorganic pigments to provide the maximum protection against harmful UV rays.

The second metal roofing benefit is that metal roofing is tough. When it comes to wind and weather resistance, metal roofing stands alone. Metal roofing meets the toughest wind, fire, and impact codes in the country. Your metal roof will probably outlast you.

The third benefit of metal roofing is that there is a genuine concern in helping to maintain and improve the environment for future generations. In this regard, metal roofing meets the criteria of recycled content, recyclability, and energy efficiency. Metal roofing is one of the most energy efficient roofing systems available and tests have shown that it can save you up to 40% on cooling costs.

 Weather Resistance

Weather Resistance

Metal roofs are one of the most durable, and weather resistant roofing materials on the market today. They have the highest UL ratings for fire, wind, and impact resistance compared to other roofing materials. Property owners weatherproof their buildings with metal roofs because they last longer.

Our Metal Roofing Process

Removal of Existing Roof, Felt, and Nails

Our roofing crew will remove the existing roof, underlayment, nails, and screws, from the roof decking and then clean the debris off of the roof surface. We use a dump trailer to dispose of and haul away the debris.

Decking Preparation

We will remove the existing roof to prepare the roof surface for the metal installation. Once the roof is removed, we will inspect the decking to uncover any potential problems that need to be repaired. This could range from rotten wood, cracked boards, or an unsound deck that won’t hold nails properly. We repair any damaged decking to ensure a quality installation.

Underlayment

The proper installation of a high-quality roof deck protection material is used as waterproofing. We install synthetic underlayment that is strong, durable, and repels water unlike paper felt and helps prevent moisture from reaching the roof deck. Synthetic underlayment is 12 times stronger than #30 paper felt, offers excellent wind resistance and durability through heavy roof traffic, and adverse weather conditions.

Valley Protection

Valleys are one of the areas of the roof system that takes careful planning and time to install correctly. Valleys are a prime leak vulnerable area, so it’s important to be precise during installation. We install custom metal in all valleys to protect against water infiltration.

Flashing

Flashing is installed to direct water away from critical areas of the roof, wherever the roof plane meets a vertical surface like a wall or dormer. Flashing is also installed to surround roof features, such as vents, chimneys, and skylights. Flashing is highly recommended for waterproofing these critical areas of your roof. Our roofers will inspect these areas and install flashing where needed to provide protection in all critical areas of the roof.

Metal Eave Trim Flashing

We install metal eave trim flashing to seal the roof and to prevent water intrusion from damaging the roof structure and fascia. The metal eave trim flashing protects the roof from water damage and provides a finished look to the appearance.

Metal Rake Trim

We install metal rake trim on the gables to create a water type transition between the sections of the roof and to complete the look of the new roof.

Metal Hip & Ridge Cap

We install a custom metal cap on the hips and ridges. We also install a closure strip underneath the metal cap to protect the roof from wind driven rain infiltration.

Ventilation

Proper ventilation is critical for helping to reduce hot and moist air in your attic space that can damage your possessions, increase your energy costs, and potentially reduce the longevity of your roofing system. There are several different ventilation options that work well depending on the size and type of roof system. Our certified roofers will discuss the most efficient options with you. Visit our ventilation page for options and details.

Clean Up

Our roofers will use tarps to collect as much debris as possible and to protect flowers, shrubs, plants, and any other landscaping. We clean up debris daily using a dump trailer and use yard magnets to sweep the perimeter of the house to collect nails throughout the roofing process. Our team of roofers will perform a final inspection and clean up after the roof is installed. We do not want our customers to even know we were there after we leave.
